New Linn 119 & 150 passive loudspeakers

26 September 2024

You’d be forgiven  for thinking it’s a very long time since Linn introduced new non-Exakt loudspeakers models. It is; over 15 years in fact. And whilst Exakt technology is undoubtedly excellent, not everybody wants to go down that route. So we’re delighted that Linn has listened and responded with 2 new passive models – 119 bookshelf and 150 floorstander – and with an easy upgrade path to Exakt if you so desire.

119 & 150 don’t fit anywhere in Linn’s Majik – Akurate – Klimax hierarchy, so for these, the moniker is dropped. They do however, share drive unit design with Linn’s flagship 360 loudspeakers, with units mounted at the very front of the baffle and with no grille, to minimise occlusion and improve excursion. Also inspired by 360 is the 119 & 150’s magnetic-mounted trim piece, simulating the grooves of a vinyl record, and an electro-formed Linn logo tweeter guard.

Both speakers are all about entertainment. They are designed to be fun and energetic but simultaneously refined and neutral, reproducing music of all genres as accurately as possible.

We’re expecting our demo models in a week or so, but for now, here’s the lowdown:

119 – a 2-way, modern, high-performance compact loudspeaker. £2500

  • Rear-ported design delivers high-performance bass
  • Bass augmentation filter further improves bass performance when fed from a Linn DSM
  • Lower-order crossovers designed for signal purity and, as a result, lend the speakers speed and dynamism.
  • Optional black or silver pedestal stand
  • Available in Satin Black, White, Walnut or Oak veneered finish.

150 – the larger, floor-standing, 3-way sibling. £5500

  • Down-firing ports produce impactful and omnidirectional bass performance, reducing interaction with walls
  • Lower-order crossovers designed for signal purity and, as a result, lend the speakers speed and dynamism.
  • Optional aluminium upgrade plinth improves overall performance (available 2025)
  • Available in Satin Black, White, Walnut or Oak veneered finish.

119 and 150 can be converted to Linn’s proprietary Exakt technology in a matter of minutes, whilst all requisite amplification, DACs and Exakt digital crossover can be contained within Selekt DSM to create a simple, neat, high-performance system.
